1. How is Janus different from other fundamental managers?
Fundamental, bottom-up research has been at the core of Janus' investment culture for almost 40 years and is the driving force behind the firm's investment performance. Janus' competitive advantage is gained through its depth of research and a willingness to focus on investments where we believe we have a differentiated view.

2. How has Janus' investment process and research evolved?
Janus has continued to add more depth and breadth to its research process. Since 2000, average analyst tenure has tripled while the amount of stocks under coverage has more than doubled. Additionally, Janus moved away from a generalist approach to a more specialized approach with the creation of seven global sector teams: communications, consumer, energy, financials, health care, industrials and technology.

In 2005, Janus expanded its Portfolio Risk Management group to monitor the diversification of Janus' portfolios. This team of dedicated professionals works directly with portfolio managers, analysts and senior management to qualify, quantify and communicate investment performance and risk. The goal is to enhance the investment team's awareness of the scope of risks that are embedded in the portfolios and how those risks relate to the combined risks for the firm.
